GABS, SSBC, New Brews, Community Love & Local Awards Finalist
Share
Well, well, well, what a week it’s been down here at The Social Brewers! Buckle up because we’ve got a lot to catch you up on – from GABS madness to exciting new collabs, a couple of awards, and now, we’ve added Local Awards Finalist to the list! Let’s dive in.
GABS Festival Wrap-Up: Veez Nutz Steals the Show
First off, GABS Festival was next level. Our special brew, Veez Nutz (YES, I did just say that), was a total crowd-pleaser and, guess what – it SOLD OUT. But don’t panic, fam – we’ve got it on tap at the Tap Room! 🍻 If you missed out at GABS, now’s your chance to try the Vegemite Toast Porter – made with a whole lot of heart and just the right amount of cheeky.
And here’s the kicker – I got to say “Veez Nutz” live on the Today Show last Saturday morning. Yes, me, representing Mortdale on national TV. Honestly, a dream come true, and it felt like the whole community was right there with me. Big shout out to everyone who came down to support us – we served thousands of people, including a bunch of our loyal regulars who always bring the best vibes.

The Birth of South Sydney Breweries Collective (SSBC)
But wait, there’s more. We’ve officially launched the South Sydney Breweries Collective (SSBC), and it’s already making waves. Alongside Slow Lane Brewing and Frenchies Bistro & Brewery, with others to be added soon, we’re on a mission to put South Sydney on the craft beer map. The love for independent, local breweries is real, and we’re working closely with Georges River Council to showcase some of the incredible breweries south of the Inner West. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where this takes us. 🍻✨
Brewing Update: Paenga NZ Lager is Almost Here
Now, you know I’ve had a bit of a break from brewing, but I’m back and better than ever. We’re this close to releasing our first commercial batch of Paenga NZ Lager – and trust me, it’s worth the wait. This Pilsner has been resting like a fine wine (well, a fine lager), and we’re giving it as much time as it needs to come out crisp, fresh, and full of flavour. Keep your eyes peeled – this one’s going to hit taps in the coming weeks. 🍺🔥
Awards: We Took Home Some AIBA Bronze Medals!
In other exciting news, we’ve also had some AIBA success! We bagged a couple of bronze medals, and I couldn’t be prouder. It’s so great to have our work recognised, and it’s all thanks to you – our awesome community, who continue to support us and make all of this possible.
Bulldog Brew: A True Partnership with East Hills Bulldogs

Recently, we also dropped Bulldog Brew – an exclusive beer brewed in partnership with the East Hills Bulldogs. This is a true partnership, not just a sponsorship, and it’s about supporting local clubs in a sustainable way. Bulldog Brew is a product that the club can sell to raise funds, and we couldn’t be prouder to help them create a long-term revenue stream. East Hills RLFC, this one’s for you. 🙌🍻
Finalist for the Local Awards: What a Honour!
In even more exciting news, we’re officially a finalist in the Local Awards! 🎉 It’s such an honour to be recognised for all the hard work we put in to bring you great beer and a solid sense of community. We couldn’t have gotten this far without each and every one of you who has supported us, and we’re so proud to be a part of this incredible community. Thanks to Georges River Council for championing local businesses like ours. We’re ready to take this all the way!
Looking Ahead: Winter is Coming, and We Need You
Now, looking ahead, we’ve got a big winter coming up. The market’s tough, and we know the economy’s hitting hard – but we’re holding firm on our prices to keep it as fair as possible for the community. We need your support more than ever, so here’s the ask: Buy our beers wherever you see them, come visit the Tap Room, and push your local pub or club to get us on tap. I’m out here working on getting Great Beer poured at Great Venues – but we need you to help us make it happen.
It’s now or never, people. So, let’s keep the good times rolling, and keep supporting local, because without you, there is no Social Brewers. We’ve got big plans, but we need you to back us every step of the way.
Cheers to you, and thanks for keeping us going. 🍻
